Oct 8 Day 4 Venice

Another lovely and busy day, going out to one of the lagoon islands - Murano - to see the glass making and charming town, then to visit the tombs of Igor Stravinsky and Ezra Pound (among many others) on the highly sought after San Michele cemetery (picture above shows considerate little watering cans for taking care of the plot and tomb plants). Then to the Museum Correr where there are ancient paintings, sculptures, weapons, and even high heels (see photo of wooden ones which must have been agonizing to wear).  Toured at least 2 additional neighborhoods since yesterday, including the pretty arsenal) and feel like I've probably stepped foot in every inch of Venice (whew).  I had roast rabbit for dinner! Was fortunate enough to get a ticket to an oratorio by Galuppi entitled "Jephte" Vivaldi's church, and both the church and the concert were beautiful. The Italians love their opera.  I heard 4 more orchestras just in St Mark's square walking back to the hotel!
