Oct 6 Day 2 Venice: Art and Views!

Gorgeous weather, amazing art, even fun playing with the pigeons in San Marco!  L'Accademia artwork, especially the religious paintings, were breathtaking - some so large that you had to stand very far away to see the whole thing.  Made my way to St. Mark's square, went up the bell tower for a bird's eye view, and marveled at the sights.  It is still tourist season, contrary to what I had thought, but I am still able to get into most places without waiting forever.  Was treated to dinner by Msgr Ferme, former dean of CUA's School of Canon Law and now president of a new local university, and it was a feast!  He is brilliant, interesting, funny, could double for Michael Caine, and naturally he is a priest (oh well)!  He is taking me on a private tour of St. Mark's Basilica today, which surely will be amazing.

  2. Antipasto di frutti di mare, bruschetta, sea bass (whole fish they deboned and divided!), local red wine, limoncello and meloncello. Buono, buono!
