Nov 6 Day 33 Antique Fair

There is an antique festival in the small town of Arezzo during the first weekend of every month, so I spent the day there today and purchased a few things.

Some of the items were truly different, interesting, and valuable and some were mere junk.  Hopefully I was able to distinguish, but it's doubtful.

Even though they were outside hawking their wares, these Italians set up a nice table with a linen tablecloth and had a gourmet lunch with wine.

This is some kind of old grape press, ready for wine making, and later for serving.  It would have been a great gift, but imagine hauling that thing back on the plane.  My guess is that it weighs 300 pounds.

Chamber pots anyone?
Okay, maybe they are sinks.

What toddler would not want this to be his high chair in the dining room?  Another possibility is that this was used for children in the barber shop.

At one of the booths, the owner demonstrated an old Victrola record player to a little Italian girl and she marveled at it as if it were an Alien.

To reward myself, I went to a sunny table on the piazza grande (where they filmed some scenes for the movie Life is Beautiful) and ordered a chocolate torte and cappuccino and here is what they brought me.  It is truly amazing… Italians KNOW how to eat!!
